Mechanical Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

: Under limited supervision, operate computer-aided design software (SolidWorks) to generate engineering drawings and/or revise existing drawings. Participates in activities involved in the design, testing, fabrication, assembly and operation of equipment for commercial food service preparation. Create and maintain BOM's for final and sub-assemblies. Utilize ECR/ECO processes to release work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Work under the direction of Engineering Manager to provide 2D/3D engineering drawings of: Sheet metal parts (formed part, weldments and flat patterns) Wiring diagrams (ladder and point-to-point) Drawings of purchased parts Sub-assembly, assembly and exploded view drawings Revisions to existing drawings Prototype part design, fabrication, assembly and testing Assembly of operating controls and circuits Engineering Change Notices, MRP data entry and maintenance, other related documents Work with the Manufacturing Department to resolve production/drawing problems Other duties as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

A general knowledge of, and some familiarity with, most of the following areas: Manufacturing processes such as sheet metal fabrication, light weldments, and assembly processes. Computer literacy should include strong experience Solidworks as well as word processing, spread sheets, and data base programs. BOM structures, making necessary changes throughout an assembly based on one change. Familiarity with the food service industry, sanitation standards and/or cooking equipment would be beneficial, but is not mandatory. EXPERIENCE and/or

EDUCATION

Five to ten years prior experience, including demonstrated excellence in at least two of the above areas.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The ability to communicate clearly in English in both written and oral presentations. Be able to understand and communicate well with people with varying levels of education and experience both within and outside of the company.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Mathematical ability to generate the calculations required to support the work described above.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Our work environment consists of both office and light to heavy manufacturing. It is expected that employees will wear all appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in any non-office environments such as safety glasses, leather shoes, hearing protection (where required) and gloves when handling sheet metal.
