Job Description

Busek is seeking a hands-on Test Engineer to own, develop, and maintain the test infrastructure that supports the development, qualification, and production of advanced aerospace propulsion systems and related hardware. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys both mechanical systems and software development, combining hardware integration, test operations, automation, and data acquisition. The successful candidate will take ownership of test assets and facilities, design and improve test setups, develop software tools and scripts to automate testing and data analysis, and work closely with design and manufacturing teams to ensure reliable and efficient test execution. This position offers a unique blend of mechanical engineering, laboratory operations, and programming.
Key Responsibilities:
Own and maintain test infrastructure supporting development, qualification, and production programs Design, build, and improve test setups, fixtures, instrumentation, and supporting hardware Develop and maintain software tools, scripts, and automation frameworks for test execution, data acquisition, and analysis Write Python and other software scripts to improve testing efficiency, repeatability, and reporting Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and software issues within test systems Support test planning, execution, and documentation for engineering and production programs Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and systems engineers to define test requirements and implement test solutions Monitor test equipment health, calibration status, and facility readiness Analyze test data and provide clear technical summaries and recommendations Drive continuous improvement initiatives for test operations, infrastructure reliability, and automation capabilities Support the development of new test capabilities as propulsion technologies and programs evolve
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience) Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience building, troubleshooting, or operating hardware systems Experience developing software tools, scripts, or automation using Python or similar programming languages Experience working with laboratory, manufacturing, or test equipment Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills across both hardware and software domains Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation Comfortable working in a hands-on engineering environment with significant laboratory and test-floor involvement Strong organizational skills and ability to independently own technical projects
Preferred Qualifications:
