Job Description

Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer
  • Weapons Systems Development Our client, a leading Aerospace & Defense contractor, is seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer to support an urgent weapons systems development program in Pittsfield, MA.
This is a hands-on engineering opportunity focused on electronics packaging, custom cable design, and the mechanical integration of circuit boards and electronic assemblies for advanced defense systems. The selected engineer will work as part of a growing engineering organization supporting the development and first-design phases of next-generation systems. The current team of approximately 20 is expected to double in size over the next year, creating significant opportunities for continued growth.
What You'll Do:
  • Design and develop mechanical packaging solutions for custom circuit boards and electronic assemblies
  • Develop and integrate mechanical components surrounding electronic systems and configuration items
  • Design and route custom cabling and cable assemblies between multiple configuration items
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and mechanical drawings using Creo or other CAD platforms
  • Support the development, evaluation, and refinement of first-design hardware and development materials
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure proper integration of electronics and mechanical components
  • Apply engineering principles to solve complex packaging, fit, form, and integration challenges
  • Support prototype development, testing, fabrication, and design modifications as programs progress

  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to government security clearance requirements.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance (active Secret is preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with at least 6 months of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience with cabling and/or custom cable design
  • Experience designing mechanical components or assemblies using 3D CAD software Creo experience preferred; candidates with SolidWorks or other comparable 3D CAD experience will also be considered
  • Experience with electronics packaging, electromechanical assemblies, or mechanical integration is highly desirable
  • Ability to understand mechanical interfaces and packaging requirements for electronic assemblies
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative engineering environment
