This role is a blend of 2D drafting related work and 3D design related work related to our equipment and processes. This role will interface with internal customers, vendors and external customers. The nature of the work will vary based on projects and activity in the business. The individual will be performing their work in SolidWorks. During the course of your work, you will become familiar with the LaCasse & Weston equipment and process model lines.Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with internal design, planning and support teams and 3rd party vendors to create and edit 2D and 3D engineering drawings for new equipment installations, modification projects and equipment rebuilds.
- Conduct site visits for as-built measurements, field verification, construction oversight, and commissioning as required. Up to 25% travel, annualized.
- Work with planning and scheduling to track assigned tasks and prioritize the completion of tasks.
- Follow design and drafting protocol to achieve expected outcomes. Work with the team within the SolidWorks Product Data Management program.
- Engineering includes multiple facets including machine and part design, process engineering, equipment and part specification.
- Work with fabricators and vendors to troubleshoot, assess progress, and maintain project trajectory.
- Document work and store files in appropriate locations in shared directory.
- Identify opportunities to improve designs to streamline the manufacturing process.
- Identify non-conformances and initiate Corrective Action Reports as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience performing required work.
- Proficient in SolidWorks as well as Microsoft Office software applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
- Two to five years of related professional experience preferred.
- Molded paper fiber experience a plus but not required.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks involving complex and varying problems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
