Company offers a competitive wage and benefit package. Position Summary Provides senior-level design, engineering, CAD/CAM, and manufacturing support for plastic injection mold tooling. Reviews and approves mold designs for manufacturability, customer requirements, molding requirements, and company tooling standards. Develops mold layouts and tooling design concepts; supports quotes, engineering changes, and part-to-print / GD&T / moldability issues; and prepares CNC programs, cutter paths, and machining setups for molds and electrodes. Works with customers, engineers, product designers, mold builders, machinists, vendors, and internal manufacturing to ensure tooling is designed and built accurately, efficiently, and to specification. Essential Functions Mold Design & Engineering Review and approve mold designs for accuracy, manufacturability, molding requirements, customer specifications, and company tooling standards. Manage preliminary and final mold layouts and tooling designs using CAD and established engineering/tooling practices. Create and maintain CAD models, drawings, layouts, schematics, and assembly drawings needed for design and manufacture. Interpret part prints, GD&T, specifications, and customer requirements; identify and resolve design, quality, moldability, and tooling issues with customers, product designers, and internal teams. Quotes, Changes & Project Coordination Review engineering changes for feasibility, determine tooling impact, and provide the information needed to quote and complete modifications. Coordinate and track outsourced tooling to schedule, quality, customer requirements, and company standards. Release approved designs and manufacturing data, including stock lists and technical information for component procurement and mold construction. Support prototype tooling, mold modifications, engineering changes, and other special projects as required. CAD/CAM Programming & CNC Support Develop CNC programs and cutter paths from CAD/CAM software, part prints, and manual programming techniques; verify data and programs for accuracy and manufacturing readiness. Prepare and support CNC setups (program sheets, tool-length checks, work offsets, fixtures) and monitor operations, troubleshooting machining or programming issues.
Develop and manufacture electrodes:
extract geometry from CAD, mount graphite, program, set up, and machine. Continuous Improvement, Documentation & Collaboration Research and evaluate design, tooling, machining, and manufacturing methods to solve technical problems and improve efficiency, quality, and tooling performance. Maintain accurate project records (engineering changes, design approvals, tooling communications, CAD/CAM data) and participate in customer and internal meetings, providing technical support while protecting confidentiality. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of plastic injection mold design, construction, components, materials, manufacturing processes, and injection molding requirements. Proficiency with CAD and CAD/CAM software; working knowledge of CNC machining, programming, cutting tools, fixtures, workholding, and setup procedures. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, part prints, GD&T, and customer specifications, and to develop practical solutions to moldability and manufacturability issues. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills; able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with high attention to detail. Clear communication with customers, engineers, designers, machinists, and vendors; able to work independently or as part of a cross-functional team. Ability to maintain confidentiality of customer, company, engineering, and manufacturing information. Education & Experience Associate degree, technical degree, or equivalent experience in Tool & Die, Mold Design, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing Technology, CAD/CAM, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in plastic injection mold design, tooling, CAD/CAM, CNC machining, or a related manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience with injection mold design and manufacturing, and with CAD/CAM programming and CNC machining. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.Job Types:
