Job Description

Postdoctoral Researcher- Mechanical Engineering Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Postdoctoral Researcher- Mechanical Engineering at its Detroit campus location. Essential functions (job duties): We invite applications for a postdoctoral researcher position focused on the mechanical testing and characterization of advanced composite materials. We are seeking a highly motivated, independent, and creative researcher with a strong background in solid mechanics, composite material behavior, and experimental characterization techniques. The successful candidate will conduct mechanical testing of composite materials and support prototype fabrication through advanced laboratory experiments. This work will involve a combination of novel experimental approaches, including collecting, processing, and analyzing complex experimental data sets to evaluate material performance. The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for preparing technical reports and research documentation, producing peer-reviewed journal publications, and collaborating with the research team to support project objectives.
Qualifications:
This position requires a PhD qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Physics or related field. The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong background in the mechanics of composite materials and experimental testing methodologies. Strong ability to analyze analytical data sets. Experience with material characterization tools and prototype fabrication is highly desirable. Effective oral and written communication skills are required. The candidate is expected to be self-motivated, able to work collaboratively with team members and external collaborators.
