Position Description:

Rear Closures Core Engineering & Subject Matter Expert. Looking for an energetic self-starter to develop and release technical requirements and strategy for moving rear closures. Ideal candidate would have experience working with internal & external customers to set engineering related requirements to achieve customer expectations of performance. Preferably experience with cargo doors or other rear of vehicle swinging/hinged closures. Development of core documentation like DVP&R, technical requirements, FMA, and technical strategies.

Will be working on:

All aspects of rear closures (liftgates, tailgates, Cargo Doors, swing gate, etc). This will include sheet metal structures, hinges, latches, mechanisms, and system integration.

Requirements:

5+ Years of experience developing Closures Systems (Door / Hood / Liftgate/Tailgate) and exposure to writing technical specifications. Technical Writing

  • Ability to draft and publish technical specifications and requirements.

Writing Atomic statements, and ability to write core documentation that aligns with customer use cases and test conditions. Drafting

DFMEA, DVP

related documents from scratch. Product Engineering

  • Experience with developing a product from start to finish including early development through to launch of that product. 3D Modeling
  • Ability to open, view, measure, and cut basic sections in both Vis and Catia V5. Ability to complete basic modeling of 3D shapes within Catia. Benchmarking
  • Experience with collecting competitive benchmarking information like mass, size, and features to compare with existing designs. Technical Requirements
  • Experience with collecting information required to draft technical requirements. Exposure to Voice of the Customer (VOC) data collection, along with ability to understand how to write requirements from a physics-based approach. Mechanical Engineering
  • Show an understanding of basic principles of Statics and Dynamics.

Ability to draft and/or complete a Free Body Diagram (FBD) of a moving system. Experience with mechanisms and structures.

Preferred:

Mechatronic or system integration, design & development. Experience with sheet metal body structures, closures, stamping, static and/or dynamic sealing, power/gas struts, power drive units/motors, and hinges Direct experience in closures systems (e.g. tailgates, liftgates, swing gates, side doors, cargo doors, moveable roof systems) a plus. Experience solving current model quality issues and implementing corrective actions. Ability to utilize and demonstrate System engineering disciplines and Design for Manufacturing principles to proactively solve issues. Knowledge of craftsmanship expectations, benchmarking, and futuring. Knowledge of automotive exterior components, including materials and manufacturing technologies, such as stamping, injection molding, extrusion, forging, casting, welding, riveting, etc. Experience with bolted joint structures Experience with Structural mechanics Experience with hinge mechanism dynamics Experience with Systems engineering Working knowledge of FEA, DFMEA, Control Plan development, & Dimensional Variation Analysis Ability to operate within

CATIA/3DX

environment, Teamcenter Engineering, and Digital Buck preferred
