Job Description

We are seeking a Transmission & Driveline Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of advanced driveline systems and components. This role plays a critical part in delivering high-performance, reliable solutions across automotive programs-from concept through production. You will work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to optimize designs, resolve technical challenges, and drive innovation across transmission and driveline systems.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design and development of transmission and driveline systems, including gearsets, torque converters, axles, differentials, and transfer casesCollaborate with cross-functional teams including CAE, NVH, durability, vehicle dynamics, packaging, and manufacturingDevelop and execute Design Verification Plans (DVP&R), including testing at component and vehicle levelPerform root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologiesDrive supplier design reviews and approvalsDevelop and maintain DFMEA and technical specifications (SSTS/TTS)Define system requirements and ensure alignment with suppliersIdentify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and improved reliabilityPrepare and present technical reports and design reviewsStay current with driveline and transmission technologiesMentor and guide junior engineersWhat Sets You Up for SuccessAction-oriented mindsetStrong problem-solving skillsAbility to navigate ambiguityCustomer-focused approachStrong collaboration and communication skills
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fieldMinimum of 1 year of experience in automotive engineeringStrong analytical and troubleshooting skillsKnowledge of driveline systems including transfer cases, disconnects, gear reducers, and actuatorsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsExperience working across multiple programsFamiliarity with root cause analysis tools (Fishbone, Is/Is Not, 3L5Y, Red X)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degreeDFSS green belt certificationDemonstrated working level experience in decomposing intended function into requirements.

Working experience with in-vehicle problem diagnosis and NVH evaluations.

Knowledge of CAE/CFD to collaborate with virtual analysis teamsAssembly and computer aided design (NX / CATIA)Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA)Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R)Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)Critical character traits to ensure success: Action Oriented, Dealing with Ambiguity, Customer Focus, Problem SolvingWe are seeking a Transmission & Driveline Design Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of advanced driveline systems and components.
