Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer with 3-5 years of experience in tooling design for the Aerospace and Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) industry. The ideal candidate will have experience designing in 3D/2D tooling, fixtures, cavity molds, wax dies, core dies, and gate dies. This role requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team and involves close interaction with Toolmakers and customers to ensure quality and efficiency in tooling design projects. Responsibilities Design and develop tooling components, including fixtures, wax dies, core dies, gate dies, and cavity molds with a focus on full ejection systems, proper clearances, and draw. Utilize design software Siemens NX (formerly Unigraphics). Design and detail in 3D or 2D tooling/fixture designs in NX as directed by the Tooling Engineer Manager. Understand manual and CNC machining capabilities, standard tool-build practices, and customer requirements to ensure feasible and efficient designs. Collaborate closely with Toolmakers to ensure that designs meet manufacturing and functional requirements. Maintain professional and effective communication with Engineering Manager as needed to ensure design specifications and project requirements are met. Review and refine designs to optimize performance and production efficiency. Meet project deadlines and manage priorities effectively on a daily basis. Function independently to manage projects from conception to completion while also contributing effectively to team-based initiatives. Support overtime as required to meet deadlines. Assist the Engineering Manager with the design, drafting, and detailing of current or upcoming projects. Qualifications Demonstrated proficiency in Siemens NX (formerly Unigraphics) is required 3-5 years of experience in tooling design within the Aerospace or Industrial Gas Turbine (IGT) industry. Design Engineering degree or Mechanical Engineering degree desired Strong understanding of the design and functionality of cavity molds, wax dies, core dies, and gate dies, including full ejection systems and proper clearances. Familiarity with toolroom machining capabilities and standard tool build practices. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with Toolmakers and interact professionally. Other CAD system experience is a plus such as Solid Works, Catia, Etc. Familiarity with CNC programming is a plus Ability to read and interpret blueprints Strong attention to detail in the design process. Physical Requirements This position is moderately active and may require the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling, bending, stooping, and reaching in a manufacturing environment. The ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including sitting at a computer desk for an extended period of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures including in a shop and shared office environment. Exposure to moderate shop environment noise level.
