Job Title:
Mechanical Engineer Job Description The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing and optimizing manufacturing processes by creating and refining CAD/CAM models. The role involves the development of detailed manufacturing processes, including 2D process drawings, creating work instructions, and compiling tool lists. Responsibilities Create and refine CAD models for manufacturing. Troubleshoot issues with machines. Analyze performance data to identify improvements. Collaborate closely with Controls and Automation Engineers to determine design requirements for problem-solving. Deliver components/designs to accomplish goals based on requirements from related departments. Communicate with other departments to develop a process plan for automated, machining, and assembly cells. Manage workflow to improve efficiency and ensure timely delivery of products. Create machine move layouts. Generate conceptual mechanical layouts for automation based on fluid project requirements. Generate models and prints optimal for manufacture, including stock, material, and feature selection. Design and aid in the generation of conceptual mechanical equipment. Generate tests to validate the sizing of assembly equipment to be ordered. Essential Skills Proficiency in Solidworks Design, including 3D modeling, 2D drawings, and automated assemblies. 2+ years of experience working in the engineering field, preferably within a CNC environment. Experience in the assembly of mechanical equipment, components, hardware, and pneumatic systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications Engineering Degree is nice to have. Familiarity with hydraulic systems and associated fittings. Experience in decay system design. Advanced 3D printing experience. Knowledge or experience in PLC and robot programming. Experience with AC/DC systems - 24-480v. Work Environment The successful candidate will report to the Design Engineering Manager and work on a team with 4-5 other Mechanical Engineers. They will also collaborate closely with Controls and Process Engineers. The shift starts at 7am, with a workweek of 45-50 hours. The company provides 10 days of PTO, 6 paid holidays, and access to Udemy after 6 months. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Troy, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
