Job Description

SUMMARY DAVCO
Technology, the North American leader in diesel fuel-heater/water separators and filter systems, seeks a full-time Engineering Laboratory Technician who s ets up, performs, and reports laboratory testing using standard and creative procedures. Creates new procedures and methods to evaluate products, systems, and problems. Tests, calibrates, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring equipment. Assists in formulating calibration standards and participates in product development process. Maintains lab facilities with meticulous attention to detail and 5S focus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering Testing and Validation
  • Performs timely testing programs/procedures in accordance with defined DVP&R specifications.
  • Review test specifications and determines test sequence, quantity of parts required, time and other resources required.
  • Analyze test results, draw conclusions, make recommendations, and write both internal and external customer engineering reports.
  • Create and maintain detailed lab testing procedure documentation.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to develop fixtures required for laboratory testing Applications Engineering
  • Coordinate procurement of prototype parts for field testing, lab testing, and plant trial runs.
  • Complete the required testing and measurements for end-of-life filter. Includes both primary and secondary filters.
  • Document and aggregate field tests. Warranty and Quality Analysis
  • Process Return Goods Authorizations (RGAs) and documents findings and observations.
  • Collaborate with quality department and conduct root-cause-analysis with cross-functional team and recommend countermeasures and solutions. Perform testing and analysis and write engineering reports as needed by quality team and customers. Lab Management
  • Lead subcontracted outside testing as required, including quotation, lead time, and planning to assure timely test completion.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate laboratory equipment per requirements.
  • Maintains lab facilities with meticulous attention to detail and cleanliness and 5S compliance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum two years' relevant experience in lab environment
  • Experience with hands-on product development and testing.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with interface software that sets up and controls test equipment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • Filtration and/or fluids testing experience
  • Test systems calibration experience
  • SolidWorks® proficiency
  • Mechatronics applications experience
  • Vibration testing experience
  • Materials development experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Extended time may be required working on a computer. Specific vision requirements include close vision (20" or less), distance vision (20' or more), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships), peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. May require out-of-area/overnight travel. May be required to lift/move up to 35 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Non-smoking, clean manufacturing facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
Position includes base salary, annual bonus eligibility, paid time-off plans, comprehensive benefit/insurance plan, 401k plan with 4% match, and annual merit increase eligibility.
