Harness Design Engineer Specialist Position Overview We are seeking a Harness Design Engineer Specialist to support the design and development of electrical wiring harness systems for advanced vehicle applications. This role will focus on designing and documenting complex electrical harnesses while working closely with engineering, CAD, and cross-functional teams. This is position on site in Sterling Heights, MI. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to this location.

Key Responsibilities Design electrical wiring harnesses, including the selection of connectors, backshells, sleeving, braiding, sealants, boots, transitions, and related components. Determine harness layouts, routing paths, and branch points for complex, multi-branch harness assemblies. Design harness systems to meet environmental requirements, including temperature, shock, vibration, submersion, and exposure to harsh chemicals. Develop harness designs using Capital Harness System (CHS) software, including Harness XC, Capital Logic, and Capital Topology. Collaborate with CAD designers to route harnesses using 3D CAD tools such as Creo and NX. Support the development of released drawings, electrical installations, wiring diagrams, and related engineering documentation. Work with systems engineers to define vehicle-level, pin-to-pin electrical interconnects. Partner with engineering and design teams to define harness routing channels, space requirements, and installation considerations. Balance technical requirements with cost and schedule priorities. Support continuous improvement initiatives and engineering process enhancements. Maintain accurate engineering documentation and records. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. Entry-level to early-career engineering experience; recent graduates with relevant coursework or internship experience are encouraged to apply. Experience or familiarity with electrical wiring harness design is preferred. Experience with Capital Harness System (CHS), Mentor Graphics, Harness XC, Capital Logic, or Capital Topology is highly desirable. Familiarity with 3D CAD tools such as Creo and/or NX is preferred. Experience with Microsoft Visio is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to balance technical, cost, and schedule requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational, recordkeeping, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional engineering team. Experience using engineering development and test tools is preferred. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience supporting vehicle electrical systems or other complex electromechanical systems. Familiarity with demanding operating environments involving vibration, shock, temperature extremes, or chemical exposure. Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and engineering best practices. Additional Information This position requires U.S. citizenship.
