Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The mechanical engineering intern works under the direction of a mechanical engineer and /or mechanical designer and provides support to the engineering staff members as needed. Time will be spent on the production floor to gain firsthand knowledge on how automated packaging machines are assembled. The intern will also gain exposure and experience in the various mechanical systems, computer assisted engineering software and equipment used to perform engineering tasks.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Steward our mission (to enrich lives by providing differentiated packaging automation and services) and values (unwavering integrity, servant's heart, ownership spirit and continuous innovation and improvement).Assist in product or system design under the direct guidance of an engineer or designer.Participate in engineering team meetings.
Help determine feasibility of designing equipment or modifying existing equipment considering costs, time limitations, company planning, and other technical and economic factors.
Analyze product or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine possible design improvements.
Confer with research and other engineering personnel to clarify or resolve problems and develop/modify designs as required.
Prepare product or system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
Prepare and compile necessary calculations to support product designs.
Assist with machine or systems tests. Compile and organize data.
Analyze test data and reports to help determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
Perform engineering duties and subtasks in area of discipline of low complexity for a project or projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong analytical, conceptual, communication (both written and verbal), and organizational skillsFundamentals of mechanical engineeringAbility to effectively interface at all levels of personnel and managementAbility to work and thrive in a team environmentStrong problem solving skillsAbility to self-motivate and work productively both with and without supervisionWorking knowledge of Word and Excel, as well as, SolidWorks and AutoCAD ability.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Currently enrolled as a sophomore in an accredited mechanical engineering program.OTHER INFORMATION
