Job Title:
Mechanical Design Engineer Job Description The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for applying engineering principles to design mechanical systems, develop prototypes, and ensure that designs meet customer specifications and industry standards. This role involves working in alignment with the Quality Manual. Responsibilities Utilize CAD software to create detailed designs and specifications for mechanical components and systems that meet customer requirements. Develop cost-effective equipment modifications to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency. Perform detailed mathematical calculations to ensure manufacturing and installation standards and specifications are achieved. Utilize FMEA to minimize risk in mechanical components and systems. Oversee the development of prototypes, conduct tests, analyze performance of components, and refine designs based on test results. Conduct technical research to inform design decisions on project requirements and ensure compliance with engineering standards. Work closely with customers, manufacturing teams, and other engineers to ensure that design specifications are met and projects are completed on time. Maintain thorough documentation of the design process, including iterations, test results, and project timelines. Manage projects using Critical Chain to ensure successful project delivery. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. 5-10 years of experience in mechanical design engineering is preferred. Proficiency using CAD software (SolidWorks). Excellent PC skills, including Microsoft Office suite. Strong time management and communication skills. Support company culture by participating in EOS, TOC, and LEAN initiatives. Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of fluid power systems (hydraulics and pneumatics), machine safety devices, communication networks, HMI, and automation integration is helpful. Experience in structural analysis FEA software. Familiarity with CAM software. Ability to manage a project and work directly with customers.
