Job Description

Akkodis is seeking an Engineering Tech, R&D for a Contract with a client in St Paul, MN. The ideal candidate is to support and maintain Linux-based on-premises infrastructure by performing system provisioning, patching, monitoring, virtualization management, and platform reliability improvements.
Rate Range:
$38/hour to $40/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. Engineering Tech, R&D Job Responsibilities include: Administer, maintain, and optimize Linux/RHEL environments, including OS provisioning, patching, kernel updates, and lifecycle management. Manage infrastructure monitoring and logging solutions such as Syslog, Splunk, and ELK to ensure system reliability and proactive issue resolution. Support network storage platforms, including NFSv4, Kerberos-based ACLs, and file-sharing services across Linux and Windows environments. Perform database backup management, virtualization administration (Proxmox, Red Hat virt-who), and infrastructure troubleshooting. Develop and maintain technical documentation, dependency diagrams, data-flow diagrams, sequence diagrams, and operational runbooks. Collaborate with application development, cybersecurity, networking, and operations teams to improve platform resilience, deployment efficiency, security compliance, and service availability.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience). 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration, infrastructure engineering, or a related IT operations role. Strong hands-on experience administering RHEL/Linux environments, including OS provisioning, patching, upgrades, monitoring, troubleshooting, and virtualization technologies such as Proxmox. Experience supporting on-premises infrastructure, managing storage and networking services, creating technical documentation/diagrams, and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams while demonstrating strong communication and a continuous improvement mindset. Pay Details:
