Mechanical Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team, focusing on the layout and design of mechanical parts and systems of simple complexity. You will execute the mechanical design of jet engine test facilities and systems, ensuring they withstand specified loading conditions. This involves material selection, sheet metal, weldments, machining, and strength characteristics. Responsibilities Design custom systems to withstand specified loading conditions, including material selection, sheet metal, weldments, machining, and strength characteristics. Perform simple calculations related to product form, fit, structural requirements, and function to support project requirements. Populate lessons learned ledger to support continuous improvement efforts. Ensure product designs comply with company design and quality standards, as well as customer specifications. Provide ongoing feedback to management on deliverables, completing tasks with supervision and guidance. Acquire the necessary knowledge to perform job assignments and improve technology, products, and processes. Actively participate in a continuous improvement culture, providing recommendations and implementing enhancements to current methods and procedures. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Minimum of 10+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer. Proficiency in CAD, 3D Solid Modeling, AutoCAD, FEA, FMEA, Risk analysis, and mechanical drafting standards. Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Design and Drafting Standards, Engineering Drawing Practices, and Structural Welding Code. Strong knowledge in Mechanical design, New product development, Sheet metal, Machine design, and 3D modeling. Additional Skills & Qualifications Demonstrate exceptional communication skills. Accuracy and thoroughness in work, with a proactive approach to quality improvement. Self-motivated, organized, and able to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships across all levels of the firm. Proficiency in MS Office programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Design experience in both US and SI units and materials specifications is preferred. Regulatory experience is preferred. Work Environment You will work cross-functionally with designers, engineers, other departments, and leadership. The team consists of around 140 people, providing a small company feel while being part of a larger organization. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Brighton, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $65.00/hr.
