Back US - Mechanical Engineer (Expert) Mechanical Engineer Chesterfield , MO Contract Sep 30, 2026 Senior Mechanical Engineer - Piping Systems & Capital Projects Location Kansas City, Missouri area chemical facility with additional project support in Chesterfield, MO Preference for candidates located in the Kansas City or St. Louis area Travel and onsite requirements will increase by project phase, ranging from periodic site visits during design to 4-5 days per week during final startup and commissioning Long-term assignment anticipated from November 2026 through October 2029 Overview This opportunity supports a leading global industrial and chemical manufacturing organization executing a major capital project. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will support the Lead Mechanical Engineer with piping system design, pipe stress analysis, construction execution, and commissioning while ensuring designs meet process, safety, operability, maintainability, and engineering standards. Must-Have Domains Piping Systems Engineering & Pipe Stress Analysis Chemical / Process Plant Engineering Capital Project Execution & Commissioning Core Responsibilities Support the development and technical review of piping layouts, equipment arrangements, piping specifications, and mechanical design packages in accordance with applicable codes and site standards. Perform and support piping system engineering and pipe stress analysis, including advanced use of CAEPIPE. Develop mechanical and piping design requirements, discipline estimates, drawings, specifications, vendor documentation, and construction/fabrication packages. Provide technical oversight of mechanical and piping contractors while supporting construction, field installation, project documentation, and engineering closeout. Support piping system startup, commissioning, and checkout while resolving field issues and ensuring compliance with process, operability, maintainability, safety, and HSE requirements. Must-Have Experience 12+ years of mechanical engineering experience with significant experience in piping systems and capital project execution. Demonstrated experience with piping system design, applicable mechanical codes and industry piping standards, and CAEPIPE pipe stress analysis. Hands-on experience supporting piping installation, construction, startup, commissioning, and contractor technical oversight in industrial or chemical facilities.
