Job Description

Senior Mechanical EngineerPosition OverviewA leading mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design and construction efforts for building systems. The role is responsible for developing and delivering robust mechanical solutions across construction projects, ensuring code compliance, constructability, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate brings deep mechanical engineering expertise, strong construction experience, and the ability to mentor junior staff while working across healthcare, higher education, and commercial projects.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead mechanical engineering design for building systems, including HVAC, piping, and plumbing, from schematic design through construction administration.

Develop and review detailed mechanical drawings and specifications using Revit and AutoCAD; ensure accuracy, completeness, and constructability.

Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, contractors, and owners to resolve design and construction issues.

Perform load calculations, equipment selections, duct and piping sizing, and energy analyses to optimize system performance and efficiency.

Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client criteria (ASHRAE, IBC, local codes).Mentor and train junior engineers and designers; review work products and promote best practices for design and documentation.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field); PE registration preferred.

Minimum 7 years of mechanical engineering experience with strong emphasis on construction projects.

Demonstrated expertise in mechanical systems design including HVAC, piping, and plumbing.

Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD for preparation and coordination of construction documents.

Experience with healthcare, higher education, and commercial building projects is highly desirable.
