Job Description

Mechanical Engineer Major Automotive Manufacturer | Production & Body Shop Environment Are you a hands‑on Mechanical Engineer passionate about precision, automation, and solving complex manufacturing challenges? A leading automotive manufacturer is seeking a driven engineering professional to support dimensional quality, process optimization, and tooling improvement initiatives within their highly automated body shop operations. In this role, you'll work at the intersection of engineering, manufacturing, and advanced automation - analyzing data, improving processes, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure dimensional compliance for world‑class vehicles. What You'll Do Analyze dimensional data to uncover trends, identify root causes, and recommend improvements. Partner with production, maintenance, suppliers, and other stakeholders to resolve dimensional issues and implement corrective actions. Support deployment of key quality frameworks, including BIQ IV, the 6 Pillars of Quality, and process control plans. Use advanced dimensional analysis tools such as GDIS and Dimensional Data Manager to monitor performance and track long‑term metrics. Lead or support engineering projects related to tooling, equipment, robotics, and manufacturing processes. Work directly with skilled trades to execute tooling adjustments, equipment upgrades, and optimization initiatives on the production floor. What You Bring Essential Qualifications Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment. Proficiency in CMM, GD&T, and dimensional analysis methodologies. Strong working knowledge of GDIS or similar systems. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or at least 4 years of relevant dimensional/manufacturing experience. Preferred Background Experience with 3D measurement and scanning technologies such as CMM, ENOS, Perceptron, FARO, and ScanWorks. Exposure to automated systems and robotics is a plus. Work Environment 75% of your time will be spent on the production floor in a fast‑paced, highly automated body shop. 25% will be in an engineering office environment. Required PPE includes safety glasses, high‑visibility vest, and arm protection. You'll be part of a team actively integrating new robotics and upgrading existing automation systems. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $44.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
