Job Title:
Senior Superintendent - Mechanical Subcontractor (Industrial Construction) Job Description The Senior Superintendent oversees field operations and manages the day-to-day mechanical activities on industrial construction projects. This role ensures that piping, HVAC, plumbing, and process systems are installed safely, efficiently, and in full alignment with project specifications, schedules, and budgets. The Senior Superintendent leads field teams, coordinates with multiple stakeholders, and drives project execution from start to finish in demanding industrial environments. Responsibilities Lead and manage field crews and subcontractors performing mechanical work on industrial construction projects. Coordinate daily activities with general contractors, other trades, and project stakeholders to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow. Monitor project progress closely and adjust schedules, manpower, and resources as needed to meet project milestones. Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations on all job sites. Conduct regular safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site safety inspections to promote a strong safety culture. Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal codes, standards, and regulations related to mechanical construction. Review mechanical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to verify proper installation of piping, HVAC, plumbing, and process systems. Conduct inspections and quality checks throughout the project lifecycle to confirm that work meets project and industry standards. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve field issues and discrepancies promptly to minimize delays and rework. Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules for mechanical scopes of work. Coordinate material deliveries, equipment needs, and site logistics to support uninterrupted field operations. Communicate effectively and regularly with project managers, engineers, and clients to provide updates and address concerns. Supervise and mentor foremen and field personnel, providing clear direction and support. Evaluate team and individual performance, offering constructive feedback and guidance for improvement. Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the field organization. Utilize construction management software and scheduling tools to track progress, document activities, and support project reporting. Essential Skills At least 10 years of experience in mechanical construction, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Demonstrated experience managing industrial construction projects such as manufacturing plants, refineries, or power generation facilities. Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, including piping, HVAC, plumbing, and related process systems. Ability to read, interpret, and apply blueprints, specifications, and technical documents in the field. Proficiency in construction management software and scheduling tools used for planning and tracking mechanical scopes of work. Solid understanding of OSHA regulations and construction site safety practices. Excellent communication skills to coordinate with project managers, engineers, clients, and field personnel. Proven leadership and team management abilities, including supervising and mentoring foremen and field staff. Strong organizational and time-management skills to oversee multiple tasks and priorities on active job sites. Industrial construction experience, particularly within mechanical scopes of work. Additional Skills & Qualifications OSHA 30 certification preferred. Experience working in complex industrial environments such as manufacturing, refinery, or power generation facilities. Background in construction management or related technical disciplines. Ability to promote and maintain a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Comfort using digital tools and technology to support field documentation, scheduling, and communication. Work Environment This position is primarily field-based at active industrial construction sites where mechanical systems such as piping, HVAC, plumbing, and process systems are installed and commissioned. The role involves working in a variety of industrial settings, which may include manufacturing plants, refineries, and power generation facilities. The Senior Superintendent spends most of the time on-site overseeing crews and inspecting work, with regular exposure to varying weather conditions and typical construction site environments. Travel may be required depending on project location. The work environment is fast-paced and schedule-driven, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and collaboration among multiple trades and project stakeholders. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Apex, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
