Expert-Level Role Summary GM Performance Power Units is seeking an ICE Components Technical Specialist to join our Power Unit team in Concord, North Carolina, USA. In this role, you will utilize your skills across engine design, engineering, manufacturing, supplier engagement, simulation, and analysis activities to support the design, validation, reliability and optimization of high-performance engine components and systems. Responsibilities Oversee the design of relevant racing engine components and sub-systems Create and maintain the appropriate engineering guidelines and targets for the relevant racing engine components Support performance, reliability, and cost optimization through simulation, analysis, and validation activities Verify performance to targets through physical testing and measured data Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of design engineering workflows Oversee collaboration with suppliers (internal and external) to confirm manufacturability and quality while supporting performance, timing, and cost targets Lead and contribute to design, engineering, testing, and manufacturing reviews, ensuring technical accuracy, feasibility, compliance with engineering standards and FIA regulations. Mentor junior engineers, fostering skill development and technical excellence. Support adherence to the program plan by meeting milestones, deliverables, and technical objectives while effectively communicating progress, risks, and mitigation strategies to leadership. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 5+ years of experience in a similar field or environment working with high level racing engine parts and sub-systems Experience in one or more of: Design and basic analysis using Siemens NX and affiliated tools Background with specific engine design tools such as GT-suite or equivalent Sound knowledge of engineering fundamentals and first-principles problem solving Understanding of materials, structural behavior, and thermal/mechanical loading Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical mindset, and attention to detail. Strong communication and information-sharing skills along with the ability to engage and influence teams ensuring clarity of objectives and alignment across leadership and engineering disciplines.
