Job Description
The Mechanical Engineering Design Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, development, and delivery of systems, structures, and components used in Holtec's spent nuclear fuel storage, transportation, and advanced nuclear technologies programs. Based at Holtec's Corporate Engineering Center in Camden, NJ, this role develops and reviews engineering designs, analyses, specifications, and fabrication drawings while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, quality requirements, and project schedules. The position works closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, manufacturing partners, business development personnel, and global design resources to support projects from concept through fabrication, testing, and implementation. The successful candidate will contribute to innovative solutions supporting the nuclear power industry and Holtec's SMR development initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:
Coordinate and perform integrated product development and engineering processes to fulfill project requirements and meet target dates
Review product designs for compliance with engineering principles, contract requirements, and applicable standards
Author and review design changes, specifications, analyses, and drawings
Prepare and review conceptual equipment drawings using input from various technical disciplines
Prepare and review detailed fabrication drawings for use by manufacturers fabricating Holtec equipment
Prepare purchase and technical specifications and operations and maintenance manuals for the company's product line
Provide technical resolutions for manufacturing deviations requested by fabricators
Ensure compliance with strict quality assurance standards and on-time delivery
Travel up to 20%
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year university
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a design or manufacturing environment
Capability and willingness to assume full responsibility for project tasks
Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce error-free documents
Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of engineering design practices and principles, including interference checks, tolerance stack-ups, fits, and GD&T
Experience using industry codes to develop equipment designs
Experience working with engineers and fabricators to develop designs and drawings
Ability to manage multiple tasks and complete work in a timely manner with minimal supervision
Minimum of three years of experience using CAD software to create detailed equipment package drawings
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience designing equipment for the nuclear and/or power generation industry
Understanding of the design and manufacturing processes for steel structures and pressure vessels
Knowledge, application, and understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes
Knowledge, application, and understanding of AISC codes
Knowledge, application, and understanding of AWS codes
Knowledge and understanding of
ASME Y14.5
standards
Experience preparing P&IDs, PFDs, and general arrangement drawings for skid-mounted or permanent equipment packages
Experience installing, commissioning, and troubleshooting process equipment in a manufacturing or power plant environment
Experience preparing operating and maintenance manuals for process equipment
Formal training in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks

Annual compensation based on skills and experience ranging from $100,000 to $115,000
