Job Description

At Trace we design, build, and support Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) for customers in wastewater treatment, ethanol, power generation, and petrochemical markets. This role is primarily on-site in Sparta, NJ, supporting mechanical design, integration, and build execution. What You'll Do Produce mechanical designs for shelter-based/extractive
CEMS:
sample probes, heated lines, tubing routing, calibration gas distribution, conditioning components, drains/vents, and equipment mounting. Create and maintain AutoCAD (DWG) drawings including: Shelter general arrangements / layouts Fabrication and installation details Tubing routing details, notes, and interfaces BOM support and as-built updates Support on-site shelter integration/build: fit checks, redlines, punch lists, QA checklists, documentation closeout. Coordinate closely with electrical/controls and fabrication to ensure clean interfaces and serviceable layouts. Support commissioning readiness and troubleshooting (mostly in-house; occasional site support). Improve standards/templates and "golden layouts" to reduce build time and rework. Requirements B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. 2+ years of experience in mechanical design for industrial/packaged systems (tubing/piping, instrumentation systems, shelters/enclosures, skids). Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) for layouts and fabrication/installation drawings. Ability to interpret P&IDs/layouts, datasheets, and IOM manuals. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Experience with analytical instrumentation and extractive sample handling/conditioning. Familiarity with tubing best practices (compression fittings), heated sample lines, condensation avoidance, and serviceability-focused layouts.
