Position Overview:
We're looking for a self-motivated, disciplined Mechanical Engineer with strong technical capabilities and a hands-on mindset. This role is essential to designing, improving, and implementing mechanical systems used in our aluminum recycling and casting operations. You'll collaborate across teams to drive efficiency, safety, and performance while supporting our mission of sustainable production and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop accurate 2D AutoCAD drawings and 3D SolidWorks models for new and existing systems. Design custom equipment and machinery to enhance performance, safety, and reliability. Convert concepts into functional prototypes and production-ready solutions. Manage full project lifecycle—from design to fabrication to commissioning. Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement long-term improvements. Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and industry standards. Support cross-functional teams during system installations and upgrades.
Qualifications:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 3+ years of mechanical design experience in manufacturing or industrial settings. Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and SolidWorks (3D). Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and fabrication. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Excellent communication, critical thinking, and technical problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
Background in aluminum or metals manufacturing. Experience with material handling systems and machine design. Familiarity with industrial safety protocols (e.g., Lockout/Tagout). Why CASS?
