Job Description

Job Description Summary A Generator technology engineer with a focus on Nonmetallic Engineering and Testing. The role is an individual contributor responsible for the conceptual design, performance analysis, and verification of generator components. This involves the application of Chemical, Electrical and Physical (Mechanical) properties of materials. Other activities will be interfacing with and supporting manufacturing, suppliers and business partners to assure that design intent from conceptual definition to finished product is achieved. The engineer has latitude for independent action, judgment, and decision, with the support of senior engineers and technical leaders within the lab and design centers of excellence. The role requires the ability to integrate successfully into a global team of engineers and provide consultation to other teams to convey data and test outcomes and impacts on products. Job Description Roles and Responsibilities Testing and characterization of high voltage insulation systems and nonmetallic materials used in large electrical generators Define mechanical/thermal/electrical performance requirements, process improvement, and qualification programs for stator and rotor electrical insulation & nonmetallic components. Develop electrical, mechanical, and thermal testing plans for insulation/nonmetallic materials and oversee or perform tests as needed. Interpret test results and recommend appropriate actions. Support RCA investigations for performance and warranty issues on generator rotor and stator insulation/nonmetallic materials. Develop and validate testing methods related to insulation systems, as well as analytical troubleshooting of instrumentation, equipment and test methods. Provide lab support for tooling and test equipment development/advancement. Define/perform lab equipment maintenance with internal facilities repair and external equipment vendors. Required Qualifications BS/MS Chemical or Mechanical Engineering 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering related environments. Ability to understand high voltage insulation systems and related nonmetallic materials, chemically, Thermally, and mechanically. Analytical, experimental, statistical aptitude. Ability to be a cross-functional team member with good interpersonal skills. Desired Characteristics Experience with rotating electrical machinery or electric power engineering Experience with mechanical testing for stress strain relationships, life cycle testing Demonstrated project management skills, and team player mindset, deep curiosity for engineering challenges. Relocation Assistance Provided:
Yes For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $80,000.00 and $120,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
