Founded in 2004, HX5 is a fast-growing veteran- and woman-owned company with locations nationwide. HX5 is currently seeking an Engineering Co-op Mechanical Engineer student to join our team in Brook Park, Ohio on a part-time basis in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center. The selected candidate will bring their mechanical engineering expertise to assist the designated NASA program and will include the following support: Assist NASA researchers with thermal systems analysis and testing in support of Glenn Research Center Transformational Tools and Technologies (TTT). The work will involve supporting the build-up of a test rig which aims to characterize the performance of innovative designs in aerospace components, including heat exchangers and drone wings. Will involve computer modeling of the test rig to predict and correlate results of testing. Candidate should have knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts such as thermodynamics and heat transfer, aerodynamics, as well as CAD and/or Microsoft Excel for the development of computer models.
Required Skills:
Ability to design and develop computer models of test hardware within the specified modeling software. Experience with fluid system design and technologies. Fluid analysis and heat transfer analysis experience. Knowledge of engineering principles as applied to aerospace components and products. Capable of analyzing and presenting data gathered from thermal models and making project decisions. Knowledge of thermal control techniques including active and passive thermal management. Ability to work as a part of a team and independently as well.
Experience:
Must be enrolled in an engineering program at an ABET accredited institution.
Other Position Requirements:
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position. Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
