  • $60 an hour 9 hours ago Qualifications Material handling systems Vendor relationship building AutoCAD Project development phase management Industrial automation Conveyor systems Automation Mechanical fabrication Tooling design CAD design (engineering design task) Design engineering Project delivery management SolidWorks Mechanical Engineering Technology Managing projects Pick & place devices Materials handling Associate's degree Full Job Description 6-Month Contract•Mechanical Design Engineer Located in Dayton, Ohio •Hourly pay rate is based on experience/skill level•Must have at least 5 years of hands-on mechanical design experience in an industrial automation environment•Position Summary The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for executing the full mechanical design scope for automation projects with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities include concept development, detailed design, procurement support, and project implementation from pre-sale through final delivery. This is a safety-sensitive position. Key ResponsibilitiesMechanical Design Develop mechanical system designs for automation projects. Define design requirements, performance criteria, and space constraints. Collaborate with controls engineers to integrate controls into machine designs. Create detailed designs using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Select and procure cost-effective purchased and fabricated components. Communicate with customers and suppliers to obtain required technical information. Procurement & Supplier Coordination Source and procure mechanical components, fabrications, and machined parts. Issue purchase orders and coordinate material deliveries. Develop and manage supplier relationships to support project timelines and cost objectives. Project Implementation Coordinate delivery and installation of mechanical components and assemblies. Support assembly activities and troubleshoot mechanical performance issues. Complete and maintain accurate as-built documentation. Additional Responsibilities Support resolution of field-service issues. Provide on-site support as required. Maintain organized engineering records and project files. Assist with additional departmental responsibilities based on business needs and individual capabilities. QualificationsRequired Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering required; Bachelor's degree preferred. 5-10 years of hands-on mechanical design experience in an industrial automation environment. Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
Experience designing:
Robotic automation systems End-of-arm tooling Conveyor and material handling systems Pick-and-place devices integrated with robots Strong understanding of machining and fabrication processes. Demonstrated project management capability. Preferred Tool, die, and fixture design experience. Machine tool setup and operation experience. Industrial robot programming experience. CNC programming knowledge. Skills & Competencies Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Organized and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
Pay:
$40.00
