Job Description
Allient Inc. is in growth mode and currently seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join our team in Dayton, Ohio! The Senior Test Engineer leads and supports the development of a cost-effective product test strategy in the effort to achieve a high-quality product that also facilitates the manufacturing process. The Senior Test Engineer also explores emerging technologies and test practices ensuring the Test Organization maintains a level of acceptable technical debt. Apply now!
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates cross-functional teams in the creation, implementation & validation of complete test systems.
- Explores new test technologies where appropriate
- Ensures test assets are being leveraged in a manner conducive to achieving desired testing outcomes.
- Mentors Test Engineers as well as Test Technicians with a focus on creating a set of standard practices among personnel
- Prepares test equipment quotations based on agreed test strategies and specifications where available. Recommends method of sourcing of equipment - in-house or contracted out.
- Produces test equipment specifications ensuring optimum test performance, minimum test times, and commonality of design while satisfying accuracy, reliability, maintainability, usability, and flexibility requirements.
- Collaborates with Design Engineering to develop efficient and effective test specifications with due regard to failure, OE, Warranty data and 'lessons learned' on other products.
- Designs, builds and commissions equipment to the highest possible standard, with support from other engineers and/or outside contract resources as applicable to a project.
- Prepares technical equipment design file to include equipment drawings, specifications, records of all major design decisions, test results and change requests/authority etc.
- Writes test software (Visual BASIC, LabView, C, C++) to the standard of employing best practice principles ensuring integrity of the test system and of the product.
- Produces and maintains test equipment project timing plans, cost tracking etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Electrical.
- 8 or more years of work experience; transitioning products and processes from prototype to production desired.
- Design and programming experience.
- Solid computer skills include MS Office, Visual BASIC, LabView, C, or C++ software programming. Experience with CAD system usage for project documentation.
