ASAP We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support modification projects at operating commercial nuclear power plants. This individual will be responsible for engineering design, analysis, and implementation support associated with plant modifications, system upgrades, and capital improvement projects within a highly regulated nuclear environment. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting mechanical system modifications at operating nuclear facilities and be familiar with formal engineering change processes, design control requirements, and nuclear quality standards. Responsibilities Perform mechanical engineering design and analysis in support of plant modifications, upgrades, and capital projects at operating nuclear facilities Develop and review engineering calculations, technical evaluations, and design documentation Prepare design deliverables including modification packages, specifications, equipment data sheets, and mechanical drawings Evaluate existing plant mechanical systems and develop design solutions to improve safety, reliability, maintainability, and performance Support modifications involving piping systems, valves, pumps, heat exchangers, HVAC systems, and balance of plant equipment Perform engineering assessments related to pressure boundary integrity, thermal and hydraulic performance, equipment sizing, and system operability Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams including electrical, I&C, civil, and operations personnel Support engineering change processes and ensure compliance with plant procedures, licensing basis requirements, and regulatory standards Interface with clients, plant personnel, and project teams to define technical scope and resolve engineering issues Provide field engineering support during installation, testing, startup, and turnover activities Participate in design reviews, verification activities, and quality assurance processes Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program Minimum 10 years of engineering experience, including at least 4 years within a commercial nuclear power environment Experience supporting mechanical design and analysis for operating plant modifications and upgrade projects Strong understanding of mechanical systems commonly found in nuclear generating stations Experience developing engineering calculations, feasibility studies, technical evaluations, and modification packages Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, piping isometrics, mechanical drawings, and system flow diagrams Familiarity with ASME codes, NRC requirements, and industry standards applicable to nuclear plant mechanical systems Experience working within formal design control programs, configuration management processes, and nuclear quality requirements Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams in an operating plant environment Preferred Experience Experience supporting safety related or risk significant system modifications Familiarity with plant outage support and online modification implementation Experience performing pipe stress analysis, equipment sizing, or thermal hydraulic evaluations Exposure to field walkdowns, installation support, testing, and startup activities Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain FootBridge is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive environment where everyone is valued and respected.
