Job Description

Launch your engineering career by designing, developing, and testing products in a precision aerospace manufacturing environment. As a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern, you'll work alongside experienced Design Engineers on real-world projects, contributing to product development, creating engineering documentation, assisting with prototype testing, and gaining practical experience that extends well beyond the classroom. Schedule Full-Time or Part-Time On-Site Fall 2026 Semester What You'll Do Assist Design Engineers with product development and day-to-day engineering activities Create and revise 3D CAD models, component drawings, and assembly drawings using SolidWorks Research engineering specifications, industry standards, and test methods Assist with technical proposals, engineering reports, test reports, and failure investigations Generate and review engineering drawing revisions, release packages, and engineering change documentation in accordance with company procedures Purchase prototype hardware and coordinate with vendors Assist engineering lab technicians with building, testing, and evaluating prototypes Collect test data, document inspection results, and support engineering validation activities Complete other engineering-related assignments as needed What We're Looking For Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software preferred Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, and bills of material Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to work in both office and engineering laboratory environments Comfortable collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other cross-functional teams Self-motivated with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills Effective verbal and written communication skills Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Exposure to manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, coatings, heat treating, casting, additive manufacturing, or metallurgy is a plus Completed coursework in Statics & Dynamics, Strength of Materials, Fluid Dynamics, Mechanical Design, Vibration, or similar core engineering subjects preferred Familiarity with LabVIEW, ANSYS, Microsoft Project, or similar engineering software is beneficial but not required What You'll Gain Gain hands-on design engineering experience while contributing to real aerospace product development projects Work alongside experienced Design Engineers on real-world engineering challenges Apply classroom knowledge to product design, prototype development, engineering testing, and validation Flexible full-time or part-time schedule during the fall 2026 semester Build valuable technical and professional skills that will support your future engineering career AeroControlex is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
