$43.00/hr Role Overview Are you looking for a challenging opportunity that leverages your advanced technical expertise? Our client is seeking an Engineering Technician III to join their team in Vandalia. This role is a critical part of a direct-funded effort, responsible for complex technical tasks including the construction, troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance of sophisticated electronic, mechanical, and optical systems. As a senior technician, you will lead project teams and provide the technical expertise necessary to ensure operational excellence across various research and development projects.
Key Responsibilities System Assembly:
Lead the assembly and construction of complex electronic, mechanical, and optical systems.
Troubleshooting & Repair:
Perform and oversee advanced troubleshooting and repairs on high-level equipment.
Calibration & Testing:
Conduct precise calibration and testing of devices; analyze and interpret results to provide detailed reports and recommendations.
R&D Collaboration:
Partner with engineers on research and development projects to refine designs and systems.
Safety & Compliance:
Develop and implement safety protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Instrumentation:
Work with aircraft test instrumentation, including the installation and monitoring of strain gauges and accelerometers .
Required Qualifications Education:
Associate's degree in a related technical field. (In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 5 years of related experience is required).
Experience:
3+ years of experience as a technician working with complex systems.
Technical Literacy:
Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings, diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
Tool Proficiency:
Hands-on experience with standard laboratory test equipment, measurement tools, and both hand and power tools.
Troubleshooting:
Advanced proficiency in maintaining and repairing complex integrated systems.
Preferred Skills & Experience Industry Knowledge:
Previous experience or certifications within the Aerospace and Defense industry.
Design Tools:
Experience with AutoCAD or other 3-D CAD software.
Protocols:
Basic understanding of communication protocols such as 1553, ARINC 429, CAN Bus, and Ethernet .
Leadership:
Proven experience leading technical teams in a manufacturing or R&D environment. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Ability to lift up to 30 lbs regularly. Ability to remain on your feet for the majority of the work shift. High level of dexterity for handling and assembling small, delicate components. Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions and loud environments. Willingness to travel as required. This position is part of a 12-month contract offering a competitive hourly rate and the chance to work on cutting-edge aerospace technology. #IND1
