Job Description

Position Overview Autoquip Corporation, a leading manufacturer of mechanical and hydraulic lift equipment is looking for a creative and innovative mechanical engineer to work on the designs of our equipment. We work with many leading manufacturing companies around the world and meeting their needs is critical to our continued success and growth. You will work closely with other teams to ensure we deliver superior quality and satisfaction to our customers.
BUSINESS CONTRIBUTIONS
BSME. Performs intermediate mechanical design calculations and is proficient with CAD and ERP. Ability to consistently process medium complexity customer orders and participate in basic team projects. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; reporting to a supervisor or manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Mechanical Engineer for Autoquip, you will be responsible for the development of custom solutions in an engineered-to-order, complex manufacturing environment. This includes the actual design, drawings, and BOM.
Designs include:
Options for standard products. Modification of standard products. Custom designs (size/travel/capacity). Customer supplied component integration.
Drawings include:
Customer application layout for approval. Final approved for record. Part/assembly.
BOM include:
Existing/new parts. Setting up the operations (routing). Operation/purchased/component special comments. Attached drawings. Perform mechanical design calculations, also extensive use of CAD (SolidWorks) and ERP (Epicor). Must be able to follow procedures, as well as rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Work with cross functional teams providing technical support for the life of the design from shop to installation and older equipment out in the field.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology. Experience or understanding of hydraulic controls and power units preferred.
SKILLS /ABILITIES
The ideal candidate will have a hands-on mentality and problem solving skills. A certain level of creativity and latitude is required. A mechanical aptitude that says, "I may not know the answer now, but I will figure it out." A desire to understand what you are doing, why you are doing it, and how/what it affects. The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize. Also responsive to overtime.
