Job Description

M-D is seeking a motivated Industrial/Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our manufacturing team for the summer of 2025. This internship offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment under the guidance of our Engineering Team. The ideal candidate will support engineering and production initiatives, contributing to process improvements, data analysis, and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Assist with process improvement projects to optimize manufacturing workflows. Perform time studies, collect data, and analyze results to identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies. Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement initiatives. Create and update process documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Assist in troubleshooting and maintaining manufacturing equipment as needed. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production goals and ensure quality standards. Utilize CAD software to create or modify mechanical drawings and layouts as directed. Conduct basic data entry and reporting related to production metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs). Adhere to safety protocols and company policies while working in the manufacturing environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and principles. Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is preferred. Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and machinery. ​ Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Hands-on experience with tools or equipment is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Effective written and verbal communication skills.
