Job Description

Footwear Test Engineer Our client is seeking a Footwear Test Engineer to support hands-on product and materials testing within a collaborative laboratory environment. This role will focus primarily on evaluating footwear products through mechanical and materials testing, analyzing results, and clearly communicating findings to technical and cross-functional partners. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter who can work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and succeed in an environment where requirements may evolve. This role is on-site in Beaverton, Oregon. Footwear Test Engineer Responsibilities Perform hands-on mechanical, materials, and product testing of footwear products, with a primary focus on basketball footwear. Execute established laboratory test methods, accurately collect data, analyze results, and document findings in clear technical reports. Operate laboratory testing equipment and support the setup, execution, and troubleshooting of testing activities. Review test data for accuracy and trends and communicate technical results effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Partner with engineers and product development teams to support testing initiatives and product quality objectives. Assist senior engineers with test-related projects, equipment development, and other laboratory initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve testing procedures, equipment, accuracy, efficiency, and overall laboratory practices. Provide guidance or training to team members on testing methods and areas of technical expertise as appropriate. Manage multiple priorities with limited oversight while maintaining strong attention to detail and quality. Collaborate effectively within a small day-to-day working group as well as a broader cross-functional team. Footwear Test Engineer Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field required. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a laboratory, product testing, materials testing, test engineering, or similar environment required. Hands-on experience performing product and/or materials testing required. Experience with test execution, data collection, analysis, and documentation. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical findings for varied audiences. Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and deliver accurate results with minimal oversight. Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively through ambiguity. Adaptable team player with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach. Experience with statistical analysis and interpretation of test data preferred. Experience operating universal testing machines (UTMs), including Instron or similar equipment, preferred. Experience with CAD software, including AutoCAD or similar tools, preferred. Experience with 3D printing, prototyping, or related fabrication methods is a plus.
Compensation:
