Summary:
We are seeking a mechanical tool install designer for our Hillsboro office to work with a competent multi-disciplinary team of peers with a wide range of experience levels. Key Responsibilities Design and engineering of general, mechanical, and process systems for semiconductor tool installations, ranging from simple to highly complex, across a diverse client base in the semiconductor industry. Deliverables include construction drawing packages featuring schematic diagrams, facility data tables, plan views, and detail drawings. Perform calculations to size piping and ductwork for various systems including mechanical, process, drain, and exhaust. Evaluate and validate existing lateral and facility point of connection infrastructure. Lead efforts to obtain and organize tool utility requirements including connection points, flowrates, and pressure specifications, sourced from site prep guides, technical documentation, existing design packages of similar tools (BODs), and field verified data of similar tool installations. Conduct field verification of existing site conditions and available lateral points of connection to ensure design accuracy, feasibility, and identify required facility upgrades. Collaborate with multidisciplinary design team members and clients to ensure alignment of project goals and technical requirements. Actively participate in client design review meetings, presenting technical concepts clearly and able to incorporate technical feedback into the design. Provide services during construction including field verification, site observation reports, responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), and submittal reviews.
Expectations:
This is a mid- to senior-level position for applicants with tool install design experience. We are looking for candidates with the following: Demonstrate a strong understanding of mechanical systems, including process, exhaust, and plumbing systems used in semiconductor facilities. Capable of independently producing accurate and complete design drawings, including schematics, plan views, and details. Must be able to review their own work and that of junior team members for consistency and quality. Understands mechanical, fire, plumbing, and building code requirements as applicable to semiconductor facilities and tool installations. Ability to proactively identify conflicts or deficiencies and propose viable solutions. Ability to ensure design packages are complete, accurate, and adhere to client standards and industry best practices. Possess excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player. Excellent technical writing ability. Highly organized. Manage tasks independently, meeting deadlines and communicating effectively about progress and issues. Takes ownership of assigned scope from design through construction support. Interest in professional growth. Ability to learn quickly and grasp new concepts, especially as they relate to engineering and construction. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit is a plus. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise AS or equivalent degree from an accredited university is preferred. 3+ years of tool install design experience working for an architectural/engineering (A/E) consulting firm. Experience with advanced technology is preferred. Please identify any relevant skills you might have, such as AutoCAD or Revit, or mechanical system modeling software such as PIPE-FLO, Trane Trace, HAP, Autodesk CFD, or AutoPIPE. Please provide any past work or volunteer experience in your response, including those that may be non-engineering related.
