Mid-Level Electro-Mechanical Technician Job Description The Mid-Level Electro-Mechanical Technician performs tool qualifications and safety sign-offs, reviews validation results, and updates technical documentation to ensure that complex electro-mechanical tools operate safely and according to specification. This role combines hands-on electrical and mechanical work with careful documentation, troubleshooting, and collaboration with engineering in a quiet, clean prototype manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Perform tool qualifications by verifying tool construction against engineering prints and specifications. Measure and inspect tool components and part numbers to confirm they meet design requirements. Confirm electrical characteristics such as voltages, currents, and outputs using appropriate test equipment. Verify that tools and systems perform their intended functions and meet performance criteria. Document tool qualification results clearly and accurately for review and traceability. Execute safety sign-offs by completing required safety checklists in detail. Review safety documentation and obtain necessary signatures and approvals. Review and interpret validation testing results to assess tool and system performance. Use electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system documentation to support troubleshooting of electrical, electro-mechanical, and basic controls interactions. Assist in isolating root causes for tool or system failures identified during qualification and testing. Collaborate with engineering teams to escalate issues, support resolution, and document corrective actions. Review test results with stakeholders and obtain required approvals for tool release. Update tool documentation, including schematics, manuals, and maintenance procedures, to reflect current configurations and standards. Prepare documentation for tool release, including yellow tags, blue tags, and safety sign-off records. Perform minor updates to tool documentation in Agile or similar systems, including Engineering Change Notices (ECNs). Support project activities by planning and organizing the completion of assigned work. Schedule meetings and coordinate with internal resources to support qualification activities. Identify and request parts required for qualification and testing activities. Plan timing for completion of work to coordinate crating, shipping, and related logistics. Document work performed and communicate status and findings clearly to internal stakeholders. Essential Skills 2-8 years of experience in an electro-mechanical or technician role working with both electrical and mechanical systems. Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical fundamentals. Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematics. Proficiency with measurement and test equipment such as multimeters, calipers, and oscilloscopes. Hands-on troubleshooting skills for electrical current, voltage, and output issues. Ability to perform basic troubleshooting on electro-mechanical systems using drawings and documentation. Experience working with Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) at a basic level. Proactive, safety-minded approach to work with attention to detail. Ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate issues appropriately. Clear documentation and communication skills to record results and collaborate with internal teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with pneumatics, including basic troubleshooting and operation. Familiarity with PLCs or vision systems in an industrial or manufacturing context. Experience working with Bills of Materials (BOMs) and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) in more advanced or structured environments. 3D modeling or advanced CAD experience for reviewing or updating tool-related designs. Understanding of manufacturing equipment safety requirements and standards. Previous experience with tooling or high-volume tool qualification in a manufacturing or prototype environment. Work Environment This role is based in a prototype manufacturing facility that offers a quiet, clean, and organized environment focused on precision tools and equipment. You will work with electro-mechanical tools, measurement and test equipment such as multimeters, calipers, and oscilloscopes, as well as technical documentation, schematics, and digital systems for managing engineering changes.
