Create design modifications to adapt basic product lines to fulfill customer orders. Create new electrical schematics, instrument gas flow diagrams, modification drawings, and other documentation for in-house fabrication and purchased materials. Support production (order fulfilment) and sales. Research and Development Participate in design of detectors and instruments as part of an interdisciplinary team including electronics, chemistry and computing. Apply new technologies to improve production processes and advance the state of the art of the company's products. Job Responsibility Summary Evaluate customer order for products that have not previously been coded for company MRP system Review/create the following documentation for company products: o Bill of materials o Work instructions for assembly, production checklist, and functional test of end product o Generate product design drawings including instrument/system flow diagrams (normally for gas) and wiring schematics o Support as needed for product operating manuals Computer-aided design of mechanical components and systems Instrument and detector design including compilation of bills of materials, production routings, and all other documentation Support sales staff by generating sales drawings and cost estimates for the quoting process Support production including training by introducing new designs and processes Correspondence with vendors as necessary Correspondence with customers as necessary Troubleshooting support for repair staff
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Education Required:
BS Degree or equivalent required in ME, MET or related discipline Experience preferred: Product design, test, and documentation experience. Mechanical development relative to analytical instrumentation in a manufacturing setting
