Job Description
We are partnered with a global chemical manufacturer looking to add a Mechanical Engineer to its plant south of Pittsburgh. This is a hands-on, site-based role focused on supporting the safe and reliable operation of the facility. You will work closely with operations, maintenance and engineering teams, with a strong emphasis on mechanical integrity, inspections, equipment support and plant improvements. What you'll do Support the site's mechanical integrity program across piping, fixed equipment and rotating machinery. Coordinate and schedule mechanical and piping inspections. Review piping specifications, inspection requirements and applicable engineering standards. Provide day-to-day mechanical engineering support to operations and maintenance teams. Troubleshoot equipment issues and support repairs and corrective actions. Work with pumps, compressors, blowers, tanks, piping systems, relief devices and other plant mechanical equipment. Support root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives following equipment failures or process issues. Coordinate contractors involved in inspections, maintenance, repair and installation work. Support preventative and predictive maintenance activities. Assist with mechanical scopes during shutdowns and turnarounds. Support selected capital improvement projects, including equipment replacements, upgrades and new installations. Help maintain and improve the site's PSM Mechanical Integrity program. What you'll need Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology. 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience within a chemical, petrochemical, natural gas, power, pulp and paper or similar process environment. Strong understanding of mechanical integrity within an operating plant. Experience with piping systems, fixed equipment and rotating machinery. Knowledge of relevant mechanical codes and standards including ASME, API and ANSI. Experience supporting equipment inspections and maintenance activities. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability. Ability to work effectively with operations, maintenance teams, technicians and contractors. Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance practices. Experience within a PSM-regulated environment is highly desirable. SAP or other CMMS experience is beneficial. AutoCAD experience is beneficial. Lean or Six Sigma experience is advantageous but not essential. This is a strong opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys being close to the plant, working directly with equipment and taking ownership of mechanical integrity and day-to-day engineering support.
