Job Summary:
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for developing, designing, and improving products, equipment, systems, and structures. They work closely with customers, project managers, manufacturing teams, and other engineers to create practical, cost-effective, and safe designs that meet project requirements and industry standards. .
Job Responsibilities:
Develop detailed engineering designs, drawings, and specifications using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor). Analyze design requirements and project specifications. Create 3D models, layouts, and fabrication drawings. Perform engineering calculations and technical evaluations. Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations. Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and project teams to support production and installation. Review and revise designs based on testing, customer feedback, and project changes. Conduct design reviews and troubleshoot engineering issues. Prepare bills of materials (BOMs), technical documentation, and reports. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance and reduce costs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field. 2+ years of engineering design experience (entry-level positions may accept internships or co-op experience). Proficiency with CAD software and engineering design tools. Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to visit manufacturing facilities, construction sites, or project locations as needed.
