Exempt, Full-Time Position Summary We are seeking a Tool Specialist with strong hands-on CNC experience and a solid understanding of tool and fixture design. This role supports manufacturing by designing, developing, setting up, and maintaining tools and fixtures to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and eager to learn and grow. Key Responsibilities Set up CNC machines, including tooling and work offsets, to support production and engineering needs Design, modify, and improve tools, fixtures, and gauges to meet manufacturing and quality requirements Create and revise 2D and 3D drawings and models using AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks Apply basic tool and fixture design criteria such as rigidity, repeatability, tolerance stack-up, ergonomics, and safety Troubleshoot tooling, fixturing, and setup-related issues on the shop floor Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to support new product introductions and process improvements Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cost, efficiency, and quality Maintain accurate documentation, drawings, and setup procedures Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures Knowledge, Skills and Abilities CNC machining experience, including machine setup and offset setup Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks Solid understanding of basic tool and fixture design principles Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T Hands-on, practical mindset with strong problem-solving skills Willingness to learn and develop technical skills in tooling and manufacturing Experience with fixturing for CNC milling and/or turning (preferred) Familiarity with manufacturing processes, cutting tools, and materials (preferred) Experience supporting production environments (high-mix, low-volume or high-volume preferred) Education and Certification Bachelor's degree (4-year) in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field preferred / Equivalent combination of education and hands-on manufacturing or tooling experience Key Competencies Strong attention to detail and organization Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team Effective communication skills (verbal and written) Time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks Continuous improvement and customer-focused mindset About
