Job Description

Our client, a leader in transportation and vehicle systems, is seeking a dedicated and innovative Lab Test Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a Lab Test Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Engineering Prototype & Validation Lab supporting product development, reliability validation, and performance verification of HVAC systems used in transit and electric bus applications. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, fostering success within a diverse and inclusive environment.

What's the Job? Set up, execute, and report on HVAC component, system, and full-vehicle testing within the Engineering Prototype & Validation Lab. Support product development, reliability validation, and performance verification of HVAC systems for transit and electric bus applications. Assemble prototype HVAC units, including some fabrication, and configure testing at component, system, and vehicle levels. Operate and support major lab assets such as airflow performance testers, calorimeters, and environmental test cells. Configure instrumentation including thermocouples, pressure sensors, flow meters, and electrical measurement devices, ensuring safe and repeatable test procedures. What's Needed? Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical test setup, instrumentation, and advanced data acquisition systems. Knowledge of HVAC systems, harness assembly, and electrical systems including vehicle and high-voltage bus systems. Experience with electrical systems such as 12/24 VDC, 120/220/480 VAC, and 400-650 VDC high-voltage systems. Ability to troubleshoot and support setup of VFDs, PLCs, and vehicle communication networks like CAN and LIN. Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and generate clear, structured reports. What's in it for me?
