Job Description

Component Engineer, Nuclear Location:
Burlington, VT Type:
Contract, 12 months
Compensation:
$69.00 - $115.00 per hour
Contractor Work Model:
Hybrid, 3-4 days a week on site.
Responsibilities:
Interface with suppliers on the development of Primary and Intermediate Sodium Pumps, ensuring hardware design meets design intent. Oversee the design, manufacture, and delivery of large nuclear fluid pumps, coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities. Provide technical oversight to partners and subcontractors working on mechanical system designs for the reactor. Coordinate technical interfaces and manage drawings, P&IDs, 3D models, and system interface diagrams. Establish and maintain system requirements, specifications, and design packages for major plant equipment. Support planning efforts, maintain schedule adherence, and ensure integration with overall plant design delivery. Propose, initiate, and oversee testing programs for plant system qualification as needed. Identify and resolve technical issues and risks, ensuring technical review and compliance with design codes such as ASME, ASTM, IEEE, and NFPA. Generate and review calculations, reports, and engineering documentation; coordinate multidisciplinary efforts. Requirements B.S. in Mechanical or related discipline from an accredited university 10+ years of direct experience with proven mechanical systems skills Experience with component design, manufacture, and full hardware lifecycle management Experience with supplier/contractor coordination and project management Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in fluid and structural analysis, tolerance analysis, and engineering drawings Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills Self-starter with ability to lead and coordinate design teams with minimal direction Ability to handle multiple tasks, resolve conflicts, and work on multidisciplinary projects High integrity, open communication, and teamwork orientation System One, and its subsidiaries including Joulé and Mountain Ltd., are leaders in delivering outsourced services and workforce solutions across North America.
