Job Description

About BAE SystemsOur employees work on the world's most advanced electronics. Spanning air, land, sea, and space, we are developing the technology of tomorrow, delivered today. Drawing strength from our differences, we're innovating for the future. And you can, too.

At BAE Systems, we promote a strong, collaborative culture and provide our employees with the tools, skills and training they need to succeed and grow. We are all about trust, camaraderie, and a shared ambition to lead the world in defense technologies and national security services. When you join our engineering group, you will be an integrated team member collaborating with Systems, Software, and Test engineers in one or more of the phases of the hardware design cycle. These roles will be supporting engineering development, integration, test and transition to production efforts on complex electronic modules.

We offer a flexible work environment and 9/80 work schedule. Our company is part of the community and driven to improve our future and protect our freedom.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Analyst to support our EO/IR/RF, precision pointing, and countermeasures-based products and related technologies. If selected you will be part of the Mechanical Analysis Capability Group, a cross-sector team of full-time analysts who apply their extensive knowledge and expertise to understand and predict a wide range of mechanical phenomena.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide technical leadership and high quality mechanical analysis to local (NH-based) programs, as well as other programs in the ES portfolio (remote support).

Plan and execute analysis activities with program engineers and managers, and lead a small team, if required.

Perform structural and thermal analyses using classical methods, such as hand calculations, and finite element methods.

Create and post-process Finite Element Models (FEM) ranging from sub-component level to the system level using Siemens Simcenter 3D/NX, NASTRAN, Ansys Mechanical, and Ansys Icepak.

Collaborate with design engineers from various disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, and Systems) to optimize system designs across Electronic Systems' full portfolio of products.

Document and present analysis methods, results, and conclusions to internal and external customers.

Mentor less experienced engineers and part-time analysts and review program work products.

Because of its mixed collaborative and independent nature, this role is a Hybrid position, meaning at least 50 of time is spent on-site supporting programs.

Ability to work effectively on a team either on-site or remotely.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 6+ years of relevant experience.

Experience structural and thermal design of electronics

Experience assessing solder joint survivability for low-cycle creep fatigue, high-cycle vibration fatigue, and shock

Familiarity (even limited) with Structural, Thermal, Optical performance (STOP) modeling using Sigfit and Code V or ZEMAX.
