Hybrid - 3 days in office (T, W, Th), every other Friday off Overview

• The Principal Mechanical Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for the design, specification, and delivery of mechanical systems within EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects, or traditional O&G or Hydro Power project experience.
• This role focuses heavily on rotating equipment, pressure vessels, and other major mechanical equipment, ensuring designs meet project requirements, industry standards, and client expectations. The position also plays a key role in cross-functional coordination.
• This position will interact with/support clients so excellent communication and articulation skills are required.
• Focus is on heavy rotating equipment, pumps, compressors, turbines, and anything that is "moving", to include pipe stress analysis and designs.
• Will work closely with piping, structural, and some process engineering teams, with projects focused on refinery and other pipeline projects. Key Responsibilities
• Lead the mechanical engineering scope for EPC projects from concept through execution
• Design, specify, and review rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines), pressure vessels and other major mechanical equipment
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (ASME, API, etc.)
• Collaborate closely with process engineering to understand operating conditions and translate them into mechanical design requirements
• Interface effectively with other mechanical engineers and multidisciplinary teams (process, piping, electrical, project management)
• Review vendor drawings, datasheets, and technical bids for accuracy and compliance
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and quality oversight to junior and mid-level engineers
• Support procurement, construction, and commissioning phases, as needed
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and provide practical, cost-effective solutions Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Must have Professional Engineer (PE) license (or able to obtain a PE in CO if not already licensed in CO).
• 10-15+ years of experience in an EPC or similar project-based environment
• Strong experience with rotating equipment and pressure vessels
• Solid understanding of process conditions (pressure, temperature, flow, materials) and their impact on mechanical design
• Proven ability to work across disciplines and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience reviewing and approving engineering deliverables and vendor documentation

Pay:

$70.00 - $110.00 per hour
