Job Title:
Lead Mechanical Engineer Job Description We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, integration, and lifecycle support of ancillary equipment associated with gas turbine packages. This role requires expertise in mechanical systems design for aero-derivative gas turbines, focusing on fuel systems, lubrication skids, cooling systems, and balance-of-plant mechanical interfaces. Responsibilities Lead mechanical design of ancillary systems including fuel forwarding, lube oil, cooling/ventilation, starting air/gas, water wash, and auxiliary piping. Perform mechanical engineering and consulting services to create reliable and secure system solutions for generating stations and ancillary equipment. Produce and maintain mechanical engineering deliverables such as P&IDs, specifications, mechanical datasheets, piping layouts, and system-level general arrangements. Conduct mechanical calculations including pressure drop, pump sizing, heat transfer, and ventilation sizing. Define and manage interfaces with balance-of-plant mechanical systems. Review and approve vendor designs, test documentation, and fabrication drawings. Support field/commissioning issues, NCRs, CARs, and root-cause analysis related to auxiliary systems. Participate in design reviews, hazard assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives. Essential Skills 10+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience. Experience in process piping within a chemical/industrial or power plant setting. Proficiency in sizing equipment including motors, valves, and piping. Experience with Gas Turbines, power stations, or batch processing/manufacturing facilities. Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Familiarity with power generation and mechanical design principles. Additional Skills & Qualifications Design experience with fluid systems, including pumps, motors, valves, and instrumentation. Working knowledge of B31.1 and B31.3 piping standards, Section V, and API standards. Knowledge of power plant applicable ANSI, API, AWS, and ASC standards. Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision. Experience with SAP Enterprise management software is a plus. Familiarity with documentation and configuration control systems. Work Environment This position offers a hybrid schedule with the flexibility of a 100% remote arrangement, though preference is for candidates residing in the Northeast to occasionally travel to the CT office. The first week requires in-office presence in CT, with travel expenses covered. The work setting is newly remodeled, clean, and bright, featuring amenities such as an onsite restaurant and nearby shopping. The dress code is business casual, and flex start/stop times are available. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glastonbury, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $62.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
