These are firms that have experienced significant growth and are building out their senior engineering talent to meet increasing project demand across a diverse portfolio of commercial, institutional, and mixed-use projects. This is not a heads-down production role. You would be supported by a full design and engineering production team handling the drafting and documentation behind you — allowing you to operate at a high level focused on client consulting, project management, and technical oversight across multiple active projects simultaneously. Project Types Commercial Office & Mixed-Use Healthcare & Medical Facilities Educational & Institutional Buildings Hospitality & Hotel Industrial & Manufacturing Multifamily Residential Public Works & Municipal Facilities Key Responsibilities Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects from schematic design through construction administration Serve as the primary client-facing engineer and technical point of contact across multiple active projects Consult with clients, architects, and project teams on mechanical system design, energy performance, and code compliance Review, stamp, and take engineering responsibility for mechanical construction documents and calculations Oversee and direct the work of the internal design and production engineering team supporting your projects Ensure all mechanical designs comply with applicable codes including Title 24, ASHRAE, IMC, and local jurisdiction requirements Coordinate mechanical systems with electrical, plumbing, structural, and architectural disciplines throughout design Manage project schedules, budgets, and client communication across a portfolio of concurrent projects Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and provide construction administration support through project closeout Support business development efforts through client relationship management and project pursuit activities Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continued growth and development of the engineering team Qualifications Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering — required Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related MEP discipline required 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in an MEP consulting or design firm Strong expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems design for commercial and institutional projects Proven ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships simultaneously Deep working knowledge of Title 24, ASHRAE standards, IMC, and California energy codes Proficiency in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and engineering calculation software Exceptional client-facing, communication, and presentation skills Experience leading and mentoring engineering production teams preferred LEED accreditation a plus Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary commensurate with experience Performance-based bonus opportunities Hybrid work schedule for flexibility — a reflection of the culture these firms have built Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with employer match Professional development and continuing education support Paid holidays and PTO Long-term growth potential within firms that are actively expanding and promoting from within A collaborative, people-first culture where senior engineers are valued and empowered
