The responsibilities of this position are related to the development of Axle components and systems for medium and heavy duty truck & bus applications. We Take Care of Our Team Position offers a starting salary range of $95,000 - $115,000 USD Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, andexperience. What You Drive At DTNADevelopment of axles (mechanics) for medium and heavy-duty truck & bus applications on component and system levelResponsible for the development of Axle Components and systems which include Product Specification, Concept, Design, Packaging, DFMEA/DVP, Tolerance Calculations, Simulations, Prototype Assy, Testing and DocumentationCollaborate globally on development of hardware components with Detroit, Stuttgart & Portland colleaguesCollaborate with colleagues inside and outside of engineering to release Axle components and systems to productionManage component suppliersConduct and thoroughly document project work, draw conclusions, and make recommendations and review with managementCreate project plans and timelines, and assist management with defining budget requirementsPromptly resolve plant issues, field problems, and customer requestsCross-functional activities with regional and Global counterparts in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing, and SuppliersCommunicate effectively and maintain professional/social interaction in a multi-cultural and International environmentImprove knowledge and skills through training; actively identify areas of potential self-improvement and alert management of opportunities for trainingGenerate and implement ideas to continuously improve the work environment, systems, tools, and processes as well as product cost and qualityIntensive Collaboration with Stuttgart on sustaining and axle projectsOther activities as necessary and/or assigned Knowledge You Should BringBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical field, and 2-4 years of relevant experience, is requiredExperience identifying and solving the root cause of complex problemsBackground in mechanical hardware developmentStrong Knowledge of propulsion systems including not limited to axlesStrong Knowledge of axle and transmission systemsAbility to manage multiple projects and inform management of any barriersStrong oral and written communication skillsHigh level of analytical skillMotivated, self-starter, proactiveStrong organizational skillsStrong interpersonal skills and able to work with and get work done effectively through othersStrong PC skills including MS Office and database toolsPrevious service literature experienceStrong automotive backgroundStrong Skills using CAD SystemsAn attached resume is required Exceptional Candidates Might HaveMaster's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical fieldAbility to understand and speak German language #LI-DC1#LI-HYBRID Where We WorkThis position is open to applicants who can work in (or relocate to) the following location(s)-Detroit, MI US.
