# API #Rndustrial Facilities • PE Engineer • Mechanical Design Engineer What You'll Do As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical leadership on multidisciplinary engineering projects while serving as the primary mechanical engineering resource for refinery and industrial clients. Primary Responsibilities Lead mechanical engineering activities on refinery and industrial projects Design and review process piping systems (ASME
B31.1 & B31.3
) Prepare engineering calculations and code compliance documentation Develop equipment specifications and data sheets Review pressure vessels, tanks, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and rotating equipment Lead mechanical design reviews and quality assurance activities Coordinate with piping, structural, electrical, civil, and process engineering teams Support procurement by preparing bid packages and evaluating vendor proposals Participate in field walkdowns, construction support, and startup activities Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership Interface directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders Required Qualifications 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience Refinery, petrochemical, oil & gas, chemical processing, or heavy industrial experience Experience leading engineering deliverables on capital projects Strong understanding of mechanical equipment and process piping systems Technical Expertise We're looking for candidates experienced with: Process Piping Design Fixed Equipment Pressure Vessels Heat Exchangers Pumps Compressors Tanks Separators Mechanical Equipment Packages Piping Specifications Mechanical Calculations Equipment Data Sheets Vendor Document Reviews Construction Support Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred EIT certification Previous refinery project experience Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams Excellent client communication skills Work Arrangements Washington Candidates Hybrid schedule 3 days/week in the Ferndale office 2 days remote Utah Candidates Primarily remote Salt Lake City area preferred Required Before Starting TWIC Card Client safety certifications HHFT Safety Training Background screening Drug & alcohol testing Authorization to work permanently in the United States (no employment sponsorship available) $115,000 - $145,000 a year
