This is a direct-hire opportunity with a company that engineers advanced naval power systems for the U.S. Navy and allied navies worldwide. You'll lead complex multi-disciplinary engineering projects from kickoff through delivery — managing schedule, budget, and cross-functional teams while serving as the primary technical bridge between the engineering organization and customers.
OVERVIEW OF YOUR ROLE
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will own the end-to-end execution of engineering projects within a naval defense environment. You will plan and manage project scope, schedule, and budget; coordinate across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and program management; and serve as the customer's primary point of contact for technical matters. You'll also mentor junior engineers and hold the team accountable to program milestones — translating customer demands into executable engineering plans while protecting contract boundaries.
YOU WILL
Lead complex engineering projects end-to-end — planning scope, schedule, and budget and holding the team accountable to milestones. Coordinate across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and program management to deliver integrated solutions on time and within budget. Serve as the primary technical liaison between the engineering team and customers — communicating status, managing expectations, and resolving issues promptly. Balance customer requirements against contract scope and schedule constraints, escalating scope changes through appropriate channels. Identify and retire project risks proactively; develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans. Mentor and guide junior engineers; delegate technical tasks and provide hands-on support to ensure quality deliverables. Generate and maintain project documentation, including schedules, status reports, and technical review packages.
YOU ARE THE IDEAL CANDIDATE IF YOU HAVE
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field. 7+ years of engineering experience, with demonstrated project leadership on complex, multi-disciplinary programs. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills — experience working with manufacturing, supply chain, and program management in a defense or industrial environment. Proven ability to manage project schedules and budgets and to hold teams accountable to commitments. Experience serving as the customer-facing technical point of contact — communicating clearly across organizational levels. US. Citizenship (required). Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
IT'S A BONUS IF YOU HAVE
Active DoD security clearance. Experience with U.S. Navy or other defense / government programs. Background in power electronics, electric drives, or hybrid power systems. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Familiarity with formal systems engineering processes (requirements management, design reviews, V&V).
