Job Description

Performs engineering research and / or development of designs / redesigns of Wardwell products and related mechanisms involving pneumatic, hydraulics, electrical and mechanical technologies. Based on actual or potential customer / market requirements, research samples, and / or verbal / written instructions, conducts engineering investigations (alternative design approaches, alternative technologies, component redesigns, etc.) on assigned projects. Determines / establishes component / machine specifications and standards. Evaluates vendor samples / services to determine performance to specifications. Designs any required tools, dies, fixtures, gages, R&D prototype parts / components necessary to execute design projects. Coordinates and follows up with other Wardwell personnel / activities (Toolroom, Manufacturing, Purchasing, etc.) to ensure the timely construction of design prototypes and models. Evaluates prototype inspection, test and performance data. Troubleshoots deviations from design specifications and effects any required redesigns. Provides technical assistance and guidance, as required, to other Wardwell activities supporting design projects. Prepares and / or directs the preparation of accurate / timely computer based engineering design drawings in Solid Works and familiar with AutoCAD. Modifies engineering drawings whenever updates are required. Within skill capabilities and availability, performs other duties as assigned to assure the efficient operation of the Company.
